Nursery 2018/19

Haydn Nursery 2017-2018

 Haydn Nursery 2016 - 2017

Summer Term 2017

A warm welcome back to all our children and their families. We hope you all had a lovely Easter break and that you are ready for a fun-filled new term! We can't believe that many of you will be starting school in September and that this will be your last term in Nursery. You are all growing so much and learning new skills all the time - we are all very proud of you all! I wonder what exciting things we will be doing in the first week back? Watch this space...

A Visit from the Fire Service

The Fire Service brought their fire engine to school and we were all able to pretend to be fire fighters, using the real fire hoses in the garden and the school playground. We listened to the siren - it was very loud! - and were able to hold some of the fire fighting equipment and tools. Some of us were even allowed to sit inside the cab of the fire engine.
We had lots of fun the next day setting up our own fire station, responding to emergencies and building our own fire engine together! We drew chalk fires and used the garden hose to put them out. We worked together as a fire team to rescue a cat from our play house roof!

Spring Term 2017

What a busy time we have had this term! We have been learning about so many new things together...

Haydn  Café

We did lots of work finding out all about cafés so that we could set up our own role play café in nursery. We read books and watched a video about a café and some of us went to visit a real café to give us some more ideas. We were even able to set up a special café for our families to visit!

First we had to bake some cakes to serve. We wore aprons like real waiters and waitresses and we had to take the orders in our notepads.

World Book Day celebrations

We came to nursery dressed as characters from our favourite stories. It was lovely sharing these stories with our new friends from Year 3!

Percy the Park Keeper's story of One Snowy Night by Nick Butterworth

We loved the story of One Snowy Night and were all very excited when Percy the Park Keeper came to visit us at Nursery bringing with him lots of the animals from the park for us to look after in the cold weather.

Look carefully and you can see our beautiful One Snowy Night display that we made with all of the different characters from the story! We had to work as a team and what a wonderful result!

Percy loves drinking cocoa to keep warm in the Winter time. We decided to make some hot chocolate for ourselves out in the nursery garden. We used a Kelly Kettle to heat the water and Ms Paulson taught us the rules for keeping safe whilst sitting around the fire.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is an exciting festival celebrated by Chinese people all over the World. We did so many different things to celebrate - ribbon dancing to traditional Chinese music, painting banners, storytelling, making dragons, sharing delicious Chinese food and having our own dragon parade. Can you see the beautiful dragon we made?
We helped to tell the story of the first Chinese New Year and found out how each year is named after a different animal.

Looks like we've had more than just one student teacher this term!

Autumn 2

What an exciting half term we have had in Nursery! We have been finding out about and celebrating different Festivals of Light including Diwali and Christmas and we have even been on our own lantern walk using the special lanterns we made in Nursery.

Christmas is a special time to celebrate together.

We had a lovely party!

We put on a Christmas Show for our families to come and see.

We were amazing!

We came to Nursery at night time to go on a Lantern Walk.

Our families came too.

We spent a week learning about and celebrating Diwali, the Hindu and Sikh Festival of Light.
