NEWSLETTER 13TH FEBRUARY 2026 LAUNCHED!
A MESSAGE FROM MS PAULSON
Dear families, on behalf of us all in school, we thank you for your support during this half term. It may not feel like it at the moment, but spring is on the way and we are looking forward to seeing the bulbs that were planted last autumn beginning to bloom in our new raised beds.
Wednesday 18th February will be the first day of Ramadan, one of the holiest months of the year for our Muslim families. In our Proud assembly this morning, a group of Year 6 children shared their experiences of this important time of year with their peers, giving them the opportunity to feel proud of their faith and their practices. We will be holding an Eid celebration day in school at the end of Ramadan – date and details to follow. Last year we had much support from our Muslim community to make this day a very special one and we once again invite parents, carers or other family members to help plan and take part in the celebrations. Please contact Ms Paulson or Mrs Harris if you would like to be involved.
We wish all of our families a happy half term break and we look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 23rd February, smart and ready to learn after a well-deserved rest.
HAYDN’S COMMUNICATION POLICY
We’d like to remind parents and carers of the Haydn Communication Policy which can be found on the school website under the ‘Parents’ drop-down menu. We hope that you find this informative and helpful.

READING, READING, READING - FOR WELLBEING
This week marks Children’s Mental Health Week (9th-15th February 2026), an annual campaign led by the charity Place2Be to shine a spotlight on the importance of children’s emotional wellbeing.
The theme for 2026 is ‘This is My Place’, focusing on the vital role that belonging plays in a child’s mental health. Whether at home, in the community or at school, feeling accepted is a fundamental human need that builds the resilience children need to thrive.
Sometimes a sense of belonging isn’t always easily found. For some children, a quiet reading space can provide that essential safe haven – a place where they can see their own lives reflected in a story or find an entry point into discussing difficult emotions. High-quality books are a powerful tool for boosting this connection, helping children say with confidence, ‘This is My Place.’
For Key Stage 2, Charlie Changes into a Chicken is a laugh-out-loud book with tongue-in-cheek humour, but it also has a poignant side about bullying, overcoming adversity and dealing with big emotions.
For younger readers, stories like Tom Percival’s ‘Ruby’s Worry’ or the gentle ‘Me and My Fear’ are essential in helping children understand that everyone has “big feelings” and that sharing them is the key to connection.
