Year 6 Netball Partnership - Jan / Feb

As part of our partnership with Nottingham Girls High School, a group of Year 6 children travelled to the High School to practise their netball skills, as well as experience a full-sized netball court!  The sessions were run by staff at the school and gave our pupils a extra opportunity to practise their skills.  

 

Year 4 Winter Sports  - 12th February

A small group of Year 4 children the School Games, Winter Sports event, where they took part in Dodgeball and curling matches as a team against other schools.  The children had a fantastic time, and represented Haydn impeccably.  We are extremely proud of you.

Nottingham Schools FA Year 6 Forest Football Festival - 10th November

Huge congratulations to our team of footballers, who competed in the mixed Year 5/6 Forest Football Festival at the Forest Sports Zone.  Over 23 city schools took part, with the team playing a series of 5 games in their group.  Whilst they didn't proceed to the next round, they played really well and worked hard together as a team. despite the torrential rain, their never give up attitudes were fantastic -  we are very proud of you!  

Haydn's Sports Ambassadors  - 6th November

On Thursday 6th November Miss Elson and our Year 5 and 6 Sports Ambassadors attended a young sports ambassadors conference run by School Sport Nottingham.  The children took part in workshops looking at  delivering a Me Vs Me Challenge to other children in school as well as supporting children during playtimes.  They are looking forward to sharing all the new ideas with the sports council and becoming role models for the rest of the school promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle.

Year 5 Sports Hall Athletics Heats - 9th October

A team of Year 5 pupils represented Haydn at an indoor sports hall athletic competition held at Harvey Hadden Sports Village.  The children participated in a range of athletic events including sprinting, hurdles, long jump,  high jump and javelin.  They successfully qualified from their heat into a final.  Huge congratulations to all the children who took part. We are super proud of you!  

 

Year 5 Relay Challenge - 23rd September

A team of girls and boys, from Year 5 represented Haydn at the school games Relay Challenge at Harvey Haddon.  Both teams had 30 minutes to complete as many 400m laps as they could.  Every single team member was OUTSTANDING!!!  Everyone tried exceptionally hard and ran their socks off.  Whilst they didn't quite manage to break our school records (the girls' school record stands at 16 laps and the boys' record stands at 17 laps from 2023) the girls managed a fantastic 13 laps, and the boys a brilliant 15 laps.

For the 4th Year in a row, Haydn was awarded the Gold standard of the School Games Mark for last academic year.  As we start the new school year, we once again intend to aim high and celebrate all sports achievements, no matter how big and small, and continue our commitment to participation in sport.
