NEWSLETTER 22ND MAY 2026 LAUNCHED!

A MESSAGE FROM MS PAULSON

Dear families, we have reached the end of a fantastic summer term 1 and are now looking ahead to our final half term of the year! This is always such a special time in school, filled with exciting events, memorable experiences and of course, a focus on transition.

The children have had a wonderful half term and it has been a real pleasure to see how much they have grown in confidence and made such good progress. We know that children in 3T and in 4H and 4W have had a period of change recently and I would like to take this opportunity to say how incredibly proud we are of them for the way they have adapted—showing such resilience, positivity and excellent behaviour.

All of the children are now well prepared for the next steps in their journey and we are especially proud of our Year 6 children as they get ready to move on to their new schools.

We hope you all have a lovely and well-deserved half-term break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 2nd June, ready for an exciting and celebratory final 8 weeks together!

Growing Together: Our New Themed Gardens!

Our Eco Team and their classes have been working incredibly hard this week to bring our themed gardens to life. As part of the school’s Climate Action Plan, we have been focusing this half term on the important theme of biodiversity.

Through this work, we aim to help children develop a real connection with nature, grow their understanding of sustainability and take part in practical, hands-on activities that make a positive difference.

The Eco Team, alongside their classmates, have been busy planting the year group-themed beds and it has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and teamwork. Almost all year groups have now completed their planting and the next exciting stage begins—caring for their gardens, keeping them watered and watching everything begin to grow!

We would love for you to come and take a look at their fantastic work.

Lost Property and a plea to parents!

Despite previous requests, we are still seeing a large number of unlabelled jumpers and cardigans in school.

As the weather warms up, children are removing layers outside and items are easily misplaced. Our Lost Property monitors are sorting all items and anything clearly labelled will be returned.

Unlabelled items will be placed in the lost property chest.

Please ensure all clothing, including jumpers, cardigans and coats, is clearly labelled so we can return items promptly. Thank you.

PSHE & RSE Parent Information Workshop Thursday 4th June at 4.30pm

As we shared previously, Haydn Primary School has drafted a new PSHE/RSE policy in response to updated guidance from the Department for Education.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who completed the survey we sent out a few weeks ago – we really appreciate your feedback. In response to some of the questions raised, we would like to invite you to a parent workshop on Thursday 4th June at 4.30pm. The session will take place in the dining room, just off the main hall.

This will be a great opportunity to find out more about the proposed policy, ask any questions and clarify any points you may be unsure about. We are also pleased that Hannah Millwater, the Local Authority PSHE lead, will be joining us and will be available to answer any questions alongside us. We would love for you to join us.

The WOW Walk to School Challenge

As we come to the end of our first full month taking part in the WOW Walk to School Challenge, our WOW Ambassadors have been busy awarding badges to children who have travelled actively to school at least once a week.

This includes walking, scooting, cycling, taking part in Park and Stride, or even hopping off the bus a stop early to enjoy a short 5–10 minute walk into school.

We are incredibly proud of how many children, with the support of parents, are choosing to make regular active journeys and it has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm and commitment from both children and families. A little mouse has told me that Haydn is currently top of the leadership board for the whole county!

CHILDCARE SUFFICIENCY 2026  - PARENT/CARER SURVEY FOR CHILDREN AGED 0 – 5

Families Information Service - Education Hub, are currently working with Early Years services to support childcare sufficiency across the city. As part of this, they are keen to gather feedback from families with children aged 0–5 to help ensure parents and carers can access high-quality, suitable childcare provision.

They would greatly appreciate it parents and carers of children of this age group can complete the short survey below:
