NEWSLETTER 18TH JULY 2025S LAUNCHED!
A MESSAGE FROM MS PAULSON
Dear families, what a busy and exciting few weeks we have had at Haydn! Year 6 SATs results were exceptional and we are very proud of the children. They worked incredibly hard and truly deserved to do well. The children are, of course, more than a set of results - they are well-rounded, wonderful individuals who can achieve anything they set their minds to.
We will soon be saying goodbye to our Year 6 children. They have been and are fantastic. They finished the year this week with their wonderful performance of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and we were all blown away by their talent, confidence and their team spirit.
Last week, the children visited their new classrooms and spent the morning with their new teachers. Their happy faces as they went to lunch were testament to the lovely time they had and to their readiness for the next stage in their learning journey! We continue to work closely with the children to ensure that their transition to their new classes is a positive one.
Year 4 performed in their Strings Concert on Wednesday afternoon and made us all proud with their confident and joyful playing and singing – it was a delight to watch! A big thank you to Mrs Needham, our music lead and to Miss Cisar, who has come in each week to teach stringed instruments to the children.
On Wednesday, a group of Year 5 children performed at the Playmaking Festival at the Girls’ High School alongside nine other city schools. The rest of the Year 5 cohort were privileged to go along and watch the performance in the morning, before the children performed to parents and other adults in the afternoon. As an RSC Associate School, we are able to work alongside professionals in the field to learn first hand what it is to act on a real stage. The children performed amazingly well and it was an experience I’m sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.
We look forward to our family events next week in nursery and F2. On Wednesday afternoon, F2 will be having a ‘Graduation’ celebration as the children mark their move to Year 1. The children will be performing songs for their parents, followed by a picnic together. On Thursday, Nursery will be holding their sports day and picnic for families. Have a lovely weekend everyone!
HELLOS AND FAREWELLS FROM SEPTEMBER
With a heavy heart, we will be saying goodbye to some very valued members of staff at the end of this term. Mr Grimshaw is leaving us for pastures new and we will miss him very much. We send him off with our warmest wishes and a huge thank you for all his hard work, contribution and commitment to the school.
After 23 years, we will also, very sadly, be saying goodbye to Miss Wilkinson. We have appreciated her hard work and diligence often supporting our most vulnerable children. We wish her a very happy retirement – she will be missed by us all!

We are also very happy to be welcoming some new staff in September. Mrs Cordon will be joining us as a teacher, starting her time at Haydn in Year 6. We have 5 new teaching assistants who will be joining the team – Miss Beeton, Mrs Monaghan, Miss Johnson, Miss Heron and Miss Cooke.
We would like to offer huge congratulations to Mrs Wallace and Miss Fletcher who have now completed their teacher training and will be working with us at Haydn as class teachers in September. We are very lucky to be keeping them in our school as they begin their new careers.
SPORTS DAY RACES
Congratulations to all of our children who took part in their Sports Day races over the past two weeks. A big ‘Thank you’ to all of our families for coming along to cheer the children on and a big ‘Thank you’ to Miss Thieme who organised the events. A good time was had by all. We are looking forward to Nursery’s (F1) sports day races next Thursday 24th July at 11.00am.
A MESSAGE FROM MR GRIMSHAW
Hello all, I am running the London Marathon next year for Jerry Green Dog Rescue. To help raise funds for this, Ms Paulson has kindly agreed to host a non-school uniform day on the last Wednesday of term (23rd July). The theme is going to be 'G'; come dressed in anything that starts with the letter G. This could be a Granny, something Gold, Geri Halliwell or anything your imagination comes up with. I would like to ask for a minimum donation of £1 per child that will all go towards the incredible work of Jerry Green Dog Rescue and help spur me on for a very long run next year. Please send your child in with cash on the morning of the 23rd and we will collect this in the office. Thank you so much for your continued support and for being such a lovely school! – Mr Grimshaw.
