NEWSLETTER 6TH NOVEMBER 2026AUNCHED!
A MESSAGE FROM MS PAULSON
Dear families, Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed a restful half term break and are feeling refreshed for the busy weeks ahead as we move towards the festive season.
This is always such a special time of year, with celebrations, festivals of light and a real sense of excitement building across our community. The children have returned full of enthusiasm and have quickly settled back into school life. It has been wonderful to see them so eager to begin their new learning, share their ideas and talk proudly about what they have been doing in class.
I know many of our families will be celebrating Diwali this weekend and I would like to wish you all a joyful and happy celebration with your family and friends. We are also looking forward to marking the occasion together during our Haydn Diwali Celebration Day on Friday 13th November.
BBC CHILDREN IN NEED & DIWALI DAY – FRIDAY 13TH NOVEMBER
We are excited to be taking part in Children in Need 2026 and would love every child to help us transform Haydn into a spectacular kaleidoscope of colour! This year, the day also coincides with our Diwali celebrations, making it an even more special occasion as we come together to celebrate both this wonderful festival and a fantastic charity. On the day, children are invited to come to school in their traditional Diwali clothing or dressed in their year group's colour. They can go all out from head to toe or simply add a splash of colour with an accessory such as a hairband, ribbon or socks. To support this fantastic charity, we are asking for donations to be made on Arbor. Please click on ‘School Shop’ to make a payment. Donations can be made from Monday 9th November until Monday 16th November. Every penny raised will go directly to Children in Need, helping to make a difference to young people across the UK.
OUR COLOUR GROUPS
Year 6 – Purple, Year 5 – Blue, Year 4 – Green, Year 3 – Yellow, Year 2 – Orange, Year 1 – Red, F2 & Nursery – Colourful clothing of their choice.
We can't wait to see every corner of the school bursting with colour as we come together to support this wonderful cause and celebrate Diwali. It promises to be a bright, fun-filled day and a fantastic celebration of our diverse school community.
For Diwali day, all children will be learning about Diwali and Festivals of Light. If you celebrate Diwali and would be able to spare some time to share your experiences with our children, we would really appreciated your support. Please let the school office know or speak to Mrs Harris.
DIWALI CELEBRATION LUNCH – FRIDAY 13TH NOVEMBER
Next Friday, we will be having a Diwali celebration menu for lunch. There will be chiken Punjabi curry or sweet potato and lentil curry, served with rice, flatbread and seasonal vegetables or crispy fresh salad. To follow there will be shortbread or fresh fruit salad. The cost is free to children in F2, Years 1 & 2 and £2.95 for children in Years 3,4 5 & 6.
NATIONAL SCHOOL MEALS WEEK ROASTATHON – WEDNESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER - A MESSAGE FROM NOTTINGHAM CITY CATERING
Next week is National School Meals Week and this year is extra special as we celebrate 120 years of school meals. As part of the celebrations, we’re taking part in Roastathon, with schools across the country coming together to make history and create the biggest school roast lunch ever!
We'd love it if your child chooses a school meal next Wednesday to help us make history to serve the biggest week of school roast lunches the UK has ever seen! Let’s get behind Roastathon and celebrate 120 years of school meals.
TOGETHER, LET’S MAKE THE ROADS AROUND OUR SCHOOL SAFER – A MESSAGE FROM MUMS FOR LUNGS
Have you seen a car put a child at risk outside school? A ‘near miss’ is when no one is injured but a child could have been hurt, for example, a car reversing too close to a child or mounting the pavement near them.
Please report any near misses to the school office — even if no one was hurt. Every report helps the school record these incidents and build evidence to campaign for safer roads around school. Together, we can help keep our children safe.
HAYDN PTA CHRISTMAS FAIR
The Haydn PTA Christmas Fair is on Wednesday 2nd December. We would really welcome donations of wine, alcohol, bottle bags and items for the tombola. Please leave donations with the office or by the PTA shed in the KS1 playground on Friday mornings after drop off.
The annual Christmas cake competition will also be held at the fair. Please bring entries to the office on the morning of the fair clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and full list of ingredients and allergens. A reminder than Haydn in a nut free school.
If you would like to have an external stall please email the PTA haydnprimarypta@gmail.com
