This term, we have been familiarising ourselves with our new classroom and the daily routine. We have loved having Discovery Time and we have made some fantastic models using the Construction, some brilliant creations in the Workshop Area and some imaginative structures in the Blocks Area.
In Literacy, we have developed our writing skills through exploring different books.
In our writing, we have been sharing ideas and constructing sentences to caption pictures from our Story of the Week. We have been trying to include the following features in our writing.
In Maths, we have been focussing on numbers 1-20 and we have learnt how to count in twos, fives and tens. We can recognise 2p, 5p and 10p coins and we are beginning to understand their value. We have been practising the number bonds to 10, using our rainbow to help us to remember them.
In Topic, we have learnt about the United Kingdom and the corresponding flags for each country. Paddington helped us to learn about the London landmarks. We have loved learning about the seven continents and five oceans by singing our special songs.
To the new children joining 1WW in September, your class teachers, Mrs Ward and Miss Witek are excited to meet you soon. We'll also be joined by Mrs Tank and Miss Appleby who can't wait to hear about your interests and spend more time with you.
In September we will still have busy time, our classroom has a creative area and space to play outside with sand and water, it also has lots of blocks, lego and some other construction toys so there is lots to do in busy time, which we call 'Discovery Time' in Year 1. We will also have phonics and maths time and we will learn about lots of other things too. Why don't you have a look at the photos of our classroom below and watch the video of Miss Witek reading a story for you.
