Autumn Term 2021

Welcome to Haydn Nursery!

We would like to offer a very warm welcome to all of our new families who are starting nursery this September. It has been lovely meeting you all in person and the children are settling very well into nursery life. We will be using our nursery webpage to share with you all of the different experiences and activities that you child will be engaging with during their time here each day. We will add photos and information that we hope will be both interesting and informative. Please check in each week to see updates and view activities we may put on here to share with your child. We will add photos and information that we hope will be both interesting and informative.

Week Beginning 22nd November 2021

In the Night - Nocturnal Animals

Over the last week or two we have been thinking about the different things we see at night time and learning about the different animals that are awake in the night and sleep during the day. There is a special word for these animals- nocturnal. Have a look at these pictures of nocturnal animals. Do you know what they are ?

Story of the Week

This week we are reading the story of Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and Patrick Benson.

Week Beginning Monday 1st November 2021

Welcome back everybody to a new half term. This is one of my favourite times of year with lots of celebrations approaching including Diwali, Bonfire Night and Christmas. We are looking forward to exciting and memorable times together!

This week we will be finding out about and celebrating the Hindu and Sikh festival of Diwali. This year Diwali takes place on Thursday 4th November November. In nursery we are planning to do lots of fun activities including telling the story of Rama and Sita, drumming and dancing to traditional Indian music, lighting our beautiful divas we are making from clay and tasting some delicious Diwali food. We will have vegetable samosas, poppadums, raitha made from yoghurt and mint and mango chutney. Yum, yum!

Sound of the Week

Bring something in from home that begins with the b sound. We can show our friends and put it on the sound of the week table ready for our silly soup. You could make your own Silly Soup at home with your family. Teach them the song (Tune: Pop Goes the Weasel) and collect lots of ingredients beginning with b - maybe have some cheeky ones too that don’t begin with b to see if you can trick anyone!

Making Sandwiches

Making sandwiches was lots of fun! We are good at spreading!

We chose our own healthy and tasty fillings!

Week Beginning Monday 11th October

This week we are going to be thinking about the changing of the seasons and looking for signs of Autumn. If you find any Autumn treasures when you are out and about with your family, please bring them in to show us and put on our Nature Table. On Friday we will be celebrating Apple Day!
