A MESSAGE FROM MS PAULSON

YEAR 6 STANDARD ASSESSMENT TESTS

Congratulations to our Year 6 children! KS2 Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) are over for another year and you were amazing! This has been a challenging week for children and staff and we are very proud of how hard they have all worked this year. Well done to everyone for getting in on time, for remaining calm and focussed and for keeping a smile on your face! Breakfast snacks definitely helped! Thank you to Miss Thieme for making regular visits to the supermarket over the week to keep us stocked up with fruit and pastries.

SWIFT HOMECOMING PARADE

We all had a fabulous afternoon today celebrating our Swift Homecoming Parade. We would like to offer a huge thank you to Trish and Nick from Wild NG who provided us with this wonderful opportunity to take part in a community event that encouraged our children to make connections with nature, by engaging with and learning about our local swift population and the importance of protecting their habitats. Thank you too to all parents who came and supported us on our parade. We hope you are inspired to look out for swifts and support local wildlife.

We are also proud of all the children who spoke in front of the whole school as we gathered on the field at the end of the parade and the ones who were interviewed for the BBC. You showed yourselves to be eloquent and knowledgeable. Great work!

NATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK 20TH-24TH MAY

Next week is National Walk to School Week. The children have had this introduced in assembley. Walking or cycling to school is a great way to wake up in the morning and has many positive effects on your child's health and development. Rather than taking a car or a bus, your child will be able to get more exercise which is important for keeping bones strong and developing muscle growth. This will also help to encourage your child to adopt a healthy lifestyle. If you live far away from school, why not drive your child close by and then walk the rest of the way? Not only is this good for your child, but it also means there will be less traffic and pollution around the school gates which will benefit everybody.

NEW SCHOOL GATE INSTALLATION

The new gate on Haydn Road (next to our bin store) has now been installed. Please use this gate only during the school day for dropping off your child or picking them up. After school club providers will be dismissing children at the end of their sessions from this gate. Thank you.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER – CLASS PHOTOS

Our new school photographer (Braiswick Photographic) will be in school next Tuesday 21st May for class photos.

CHICKENPOX

We have had a few cases of chickenpox in both FS and FW. Please can we remind you that the recommended period for your child to be kept away from school is until the vesicles (blisters) have crusted over. Thank you.
